MuniCap, Inc. is a leading public finance consulting firm established in 1997 that specializes in developing and implementing creative approaches to funding public infrastructure, facilities, and services for economic development and urban redevelopment projects, usually involving public and private partnerships.

WHAT WE DO

MuniCap’s primary role is to assist developers and public agencies in developing, implementing and managing public financing plans to create successful public-private partnership development projects. MuniCap’s role is to facilitate tax increment and special tax bond financing through bond issuance—our “consulting services”—as well as to complete the corresponding compliance after bond issuance—our “administrative services.”

MuniCap, Inc. is a leading public finance consulting firm. We are expanding in various markets and are currently seeking candidates with experience in finance and analytics to join our team. In this role, you will interact closely with local government agencies and real estate developers as well as perform a significant amount of research. Our ideal candidate will be able to apply the use of analytics and interpersonal skills to various projects currently in process and on the horizon. They will help solve problems and generate projection models, scrutinize issues in calculating methods, and take a proactive and results oriented approach in the areas of public finance and real estate revenue research and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of multiple large scale, catalytic real estate projects and associated clients
  • Preparation of economic and fiscal impact analyses and related research
  • Preparation of financial projections related to project feasibility
  • Valuation of real estate applying the four standard approaches to value
  • Preparation of summaries, reports, and PowerPoints related to financial analyses
  • Evaluation of private sector pro formas
  • Review of public sector policies
  • Analysis of bond and debt financing structures
  • Review and interpretation of bond and legal documents
  • Review and understanding of market studies, appraisals, and engineer reports
  • Attend external calls with clients and industry professionals and transcribe notes

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in real estate finance or finance
  • Real estate, development or municipal securities experience preferred, but not required
  • Series 50 preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Research and analytical skills (bond and finance background is a plus)
  • Excellent writing and strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail, organization and time management
  • Team player and willingness to take on new tasks as needed
  • Recent graduates should have a GPA of 3.5 or higher

Maryland Office

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, manage, and maintain client’s monthly, quarterly and annual reports as needed
  • Audit construction requisitions in depth, and confirm compliance with bond documents
  • Prepare financial statements for multiple entities, including Management’s Discussion and Analysis and Notes to the Financial Statements, for external auditors
  • Review and interpret bond and legal documents
  • Prepare and review arbitrage reports and reporting deadlines
  • Prepare and review external general ledgers for 70+ projects for completeness and accuracy
  • Prepare, audit, and update accounting team procedures as necessary
  • Maintain responsibility for completion and accuracy of work products

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred, but not required
  • Three to five years (minimum) of audit and/or US GAAP financial statement preparation experience
  • Real estate, development or municipal securities preferred, but not required
  • Series 50 or Series 7 preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • QuickBooks desktop experience (required)
  • Strong critical thinking skills (bond and finance background is a plus)
  • Excellent writing and strong communication skills
